Artist Statement

No matter who we are or what we do, every aspect of our lives have been influenced by outside views. Along with the views of others, it's the experiences we have that help to create our opinions. We are all judges as well as the judged. We are all different because of our own individual life experiences. However, we are all similar, for it's these experiences and judgements that form the opinions we have towards political, religious, sexual, social and artistic matters or views. This exhibition represents the way I work, constantly aware of the opinions or judgments of others and their ability to sway my own opinions. I do recognize their powerful influence in many of the pieces. Some images are more personal, while others may reach a more universal audience. I used process to represent the feeling of being boxed-in or encased, as well as give a sense of compartmentalizing my ideas, views and work. Each represents an individual thought, influence, or aspect of judgement.

The Process:

The work presented in this exhibition all all mixed media. Each is a single

photographic image printed on multiple sheets of paper(some color, some black and white)

all printed at one time. They were then pieced together like a puzzle, and attached to

painted canvas. The image was then encased in fiber-resin.
